Dialup Connection Setup in Windows 2000These instructions will help you add and remove dialup connections to WorldSpice in Windows 2000. Finding & Deleting Old Dialup ConnectionsOn the Start Menu, select Settings, then Network and Dial-up Connections.
It may be helpful to delete old and unused dialup connections that were previously set up. Right click any connections that need to be deleted and select Delete from the menu.
Adding A New Dialup ConnectionStarting the Network Connection WizardIn the Network and Dial-up Connections window, double click Make New Connection. The Network Connection Wizard opens with this message:
If you have never before set up a network connection on your computer (dialup or otherwise), you will also immediately see the following window. If you do not see this window, skip this part. Enter your area code in the What area code (or city code) are you in now? box, then click OK.
If you saw the previous window, then you will see the following window after clicking OK. Click OK again.
Network Connection Wizard ContinuedOn the Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard page, click Next. The page below is displayed. Select Dial-up to the Internet and click Next.
The Internet Connection Wizard opens. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually and click Next.
Select I connect through a phone line and modem and click Next.
Type in the Telephone number, 333-6000. If you have call waiting and would like to disable it when you dial in, use *70,333-6000. Click Next.
Type in your User name and Password. Click Next.
Type in the Connection Name, WorldSpice, and click Next.
You will be asked if you want to set up an Internet mail account. Select No and click Next.
The Internet Connection Wizard finishes with the following page. Uncheck the To connect to the Internet immediately... checkbox and click Finish.
Select the new WorldSpice connection you just created by clicking on it. Then open the File menu and select Create Shortcut.
You will be asked if you want to create a shortcut on the desktop. Click Yes.
A shortcut will be created on you desktop. You can double-click this to quickly get connected.
When you try to connect, you will be presented with this window. Click the Dial button.
